THE BEGINNING OF A MOVEMENT

Louisiana Leaders Council started with a daring idea. Its founder and early organizers believed that one day students from across Louisiana would be selfless leaders. Following the devastation of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the need for a new generation of leaders was apparent. While many organizations direct attention towards current professionals and officials for a new wave of leadership, we believe that the youth of the Louisiana contains an untapped potential. This potential must be invested via the cultivation of new leaders. As a result, Louisiana Leaders Council created the Summer Leadership Program for Louisiana college students. After participating in our intensive training fellowship, Louisiana’s next generation of leaders will be equipped and empowered to solve problems and create movements that will ensure a better future for Louisiana.

History shows that young people have always led the fight for change. Through our Summer Leadership Program the next generation of Louisiana leaders will be equipped to lead our state and reverse our lagging stances in areas such as health care and education. Louisiana Leaders Council strongly supports our current leaders, from elected office to private sector, but contends that future generations of Louisiana must be informed, educated, and able to lead in their fields. A new generation of Louisiana leaders will result in statewide change for the common good.

TIMELINE OF EVENTS

During late December of 2005, the Louisiana Secretary of State’s office approved the incorporation of the Louisiana Leaders Council. By April of 2006, a functioning website was in operation. With so many ideas in motion, the team has brought along Amy Bierbach, a skilled web designer, to assist with communicating developments to the general public. Its founder and board members are now working around the clock to attain 501 (c) 3 determination with the United States Internal Revenue Service. Louisiana Leaders Council expects to receive tax-exempt determination by January of 2007. All individuals interested in donating can visit our donations page for details on how to support the movement.
